What Happens if You Get Stuck in an Escape Room

What Happens if You Get Stuck in an Escape Room?

Getting stuck in an escape room can be so frustrating, especially when you are so close to completing the challenge!

So, exactly what happens if you get stuck in an escape room? We will outline the answer to this question in this article, which we hope you find useful.

Can you ask for clues during an escape room game?

For the entirety of your game, you will be watched on CCTV by the staff at the escape room. You may be able to ask for hints from the staff, and someone will arrive to point you in the right direction.

However, the staff members aren’t going to tell you the answers to every puzzle. If you can’t escape the room in your time slot (usually 60 minutes), you will lose the game.

What happens if you get stuck in an escape room?

Picture this. You and your group of friends have worked really hard to solve your way out of an escape room, but you are stuck on one particular challenge. Before you know it, the time has run out, and the game is over!

If you get stuck in an escape room, don’t worry, you won’t be trapped there for a long time!

So, what happens if you get stuck in an escape room?

Well, the staff member won’t abandon you and your pals and leave you stuck in darkness, with no hope of ever exiting. What happens is the staff will unlock the door and enter your game room.

They may then walk you through the clues you missed, before escorting you outside, which marks the end of your escape room experience.

Can I visit an escape room if I have claustrophobia?

Escape rooms are often confined, dark spaces. They may also feature UV light and flashing lights.

If you choose a horror-themed escape room, then this may feature jump scares and frightening images (such as scary clowns).

Hence, escape rooms may be a difficult environment for people with:

  • claustrophobia
  • anxiety or panic disorders
  • epilepsy
  • heart problems
  • physical disabilities
  • limited cognitive and mobility functions
  • visual impairments

If you have any of these health conditions, then we recommend consulting a doctor before reserving a place at an escape room.

It is also a wise idea to speak to the staff at the escape room prior to booking your visit, to check whether they can accommodate any of your needs.

What should you not wear to an escape room?

We ask that all players to dress in casual clothing, to ensure that they are comfortable when moving around in the escape room.

When you are hunting for clues, this may involve bending, crawling, or stretching, so it is advisable to wear non-restrictive clothes. This means avoiding tight jeans and choosing loose tops and trousers instead.

Opt for a lightweight, breathable outfit, as it may get hot and stuffy in the escape room, especially when you and your team are manoeuvring each room to search for clues!

Always wear sensible, close-toed footwear such as trainers, so that you feel light on your feet when standing up and walking around for an hour or so.

We know that some guests like to wear fancy dress during hen dos and stag dos, which we are fine with, as long as they are not deemed a health and safety hazard! For example, if you show up to your game in a costume which we deem unsuitable for our escape room (such as an inflatable outfit or a leotard), we will ask you to change into something else, or you may have to miss out on the game altogether.

Additionally, we recommend not wearing any jewellery or accessories that may fall off during the game and get lost in the dark, tight environment.

If you have long hair, we advise tying it in a ponytail or bun, so it doesn’t get caught on something.

Can I drink alcohol at an escape room?

Absolutely not. We do not allow players to consume alcohol at any point when they are on our premises.

Alcohol is banned for the safety of our guests, so we will not permit any players who are visibly intoxicated or carrying alcohol with them.

Can I use my phone in an escape room?

Nope! Mobile phones are not allowed in the escape room. You may be asked to store your mobile phone (as well as your coat and bag) in a locker while you are playing your game.

It would be pointless to use Google anyway, because the puzzles in an escape room have been uniquely and intricately designed to suit a particular theme or storyline.

A serial murderer is on the loose, and Holmes and Watson have been on the case. In typical fashion, however, Holmes was struck with a breakthrough deduction and ran off. Thinking Holmes had simply solved the case and gone back home, Watson followed shortly behind. But when he arrived at 221B, there was no trace of Holmes – only a note left on the desk, written in the same strange code the killer has been leaving at the scenes of the crimes.

Unable to figure out the case himself, Watson recruits a top team of forensic investigators to assemble at 221B Baker St, to solve the case before time runs out and save Sherlock from the sadistic killer.
