What Are the Rules of an Escape Room?

What Are the Rules of an Escape Room?

Some of the main rules of an escape room are as follows:

  • No phones are allowed to be used inside the escape room. You should be provided with a locker or other safe place to keep your belongings whilst you are inside. If the escape room does not offer this you may be able to keep your phone on you provided it is switched off.
  • The contents of the escape room should be kept a secret, don’t spoil the fun for others.
  • Be careful when handling props; whilst they might look realistic, some things may be fragile.
  • Always prioritise your safety, and don’t stand on top of furniture. The games are planned with safety in mind, so if something seems out of reach, a tool will help you get it.
  • Electrical components, such as switches, plug sockets, etc., aren’t part of the game and should be left alone.
  • Do not pry open any locked boxes. Work together to open the box in the intended way, either by finding a key, a code or solving a puzzle.
  • No rowdy, aggressive or inappropriate behaviour.
  • No food or drink in the escape rooms.
  • Players cannot behave in a way that jeopardises the safety of others.
  • In some cases, players may accidentally spoil a clue and then be unable to win the game. You can continue playing but think twice before doing something irreversible.
  • The game should be played in the way it was intended. Respect the storyline and play along.
  • Always follow the rules and the instructions of the staff to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time.

If you follow the rules you’ll definitely stand more of a chance of winning.

What Should You Bring With You to an Escape Room?

You do not need to bring much to an escape room to have a good time. All you need is you and some top-of-the-line teammates to help you escape the room.

You obviously cannot bring your phone into the escape room, they may provide you with lockers in which to store your phone and the rest of your things. If not they will have somewhere to keep your things safe.

How to Win Escape Rooms?

Most Escape Rooms have a success rate of about 30%. This means that most people do not get to escape the room. Although this is quite frustrating it does mean that it is that extra bit more satisfying if you are one of the 30%.

Most escape rooms try to keep their escape rate as low as they can so as to keep them as interesting and exciting as possible. It would be no good if you easily solved a 60-minute escape room in half an hour.

If you are not fortunate to escape don’t worry you won’t actually be left trapped inside the escape room indefinitely. Instead, a member of staff will come in a show you what you missed and explain to you how you could have escaped.

In order to beat an escape room and win you will need to concentrate and be careful of how you solve the riddles and clues. Listen to your teammates and work together!
