How Hard Are Escape Rooms
How hard are escape rooms?
Do you want to challenge yourself to the ultimate escape? Use the hidden clues to crack codes and leave locks behind. You and your team of 2-6 friends will need to complete your mission in the time you are given to escape.
This article will tell you how long you will get to escape.
What is an escape room?
Escape rooms come from a long history of a variety of different games. This includes treasure hunts, point-and-click adventure games, haunted houses and Live-Action Role-Playing (LARP) games like Dungeons and Dragons. These formats combine to create great escape rooms to get stuck into but you’ll need your puzzle-solving skills to get back out.
What do you need?
Your first priority when coming to an escape room should be your team. Assembling your team is important! You will be working together to find your way out.
Make sure you are comfy! No heels or open-toe shoes and no jewellery that can get caught. You will not want any distractions.
What should you expect?
If you have not been to an escape room before you might not know what is going to happen. You’ll need all your concentration for your mission, so we try to keep it simple for you.
- Make sure you arrive on time
- Enter the game
- Get trapped inside
- Solve the puzzles and riddles to escape…
- Or be doomed!
A big thing to note is that mobile phones are NOT allowed in our escape rooms. There should be a locker provided for your phone and other belongings. If not you will be allowed to keep your phone on you but switched off.
Google likely would not be your friend anyway, unfortunately. Our escape rooms are complex and unique and the answers will not appear in a Google search.
Why should you come to an escape room?
Escape rooms are great for many reasons and have a mountain of benefits.
- Solving puzzles and riddles are good for you.
The fun you have whilst trying to find and solve clues with your friends will release endorphins and you will be able to absorb knowledge and the skills you are developing really well.
You should be mindful though if you do have any health conditions that could be affected. Some of the escape rooms at Escape Now include tiny, dark paces and UV light. Unfortunately for these reasons, we do recommend that people with epilepsy, claustrophobia, physical disabilities and heart conditions NOT play our games.
If you are unsure you should consult your doctor.
- It can be great as an ice-breaker or team-building We can even tailor corporate escape room experiences for 10–30 people.
At Escape Now we offer corporate events. The price varies slightly depending on the number of people participating but regardless of this price, we will provide both customised gameplay and duration and qualified games masters onsite
They can teach you new skills and are seen as genuine learning tools.

All these skills are hugely useful no matter who you are and what your job may be.
This is a way of learning without even realising you are doing it. The best kind! It’s
easy to see why escape rooms are so popular.
How hard are escape rooms?
Escape rooms do not require you to be a genius.
We have different rooms with different levels of difficulty so you can choose whatever
you feel comfortable with. We have two medium-level games Haunted Hollow and
Cyberwarfare. There is also a difficult room Sherlock’s Secret for those more confident in their puzzle-solving expertise.
The staff will help you out. If you need a hint or extra clue just ask and a member of staff following along on CCTV will point you in the right direction. This will not, however, just give away all the answers.
You’ll have an hour inside which is the perfect amount of time for our escape rooms.
Any more and it becomes too easy, any less and the challenge of solving all the riddles and puzzles in time would be almost impossible.
Here are a couple of tips to help you once you get inside;
1. Search everywhere
2. Organise your items
3. Focus on what’s stopping you
4. Keep track of your codes and cyphers
5. Use the hints
What If you need to leave the escape room?
When can you leave the escape room? The short answer is whenever you need to. For the whole time you are in the escape room you will be watched by staff on CCTV. Anything major will be spotted by them. If there is any kind of emergency during the game or even if you feel uncomfortable you will of course be able to ask to leave the room.
In, most circumstances, however, you cannot re-enter the game room after leaving. This means taking a toilet break before your game to avoid disqualification.
Leaving at the end
Of course, you can also leave the room at the end of the game or the end of your time.
If you finish within the time this is cause for celebration. Congratulations!
If you do not finish in the time that is alright. Despite our threats of doom, a member
of staff will unlock the door and enter the room. At this point, you will likely ask to be put out of your misery and they will reveal what clues you have missed and how you could have escaped.
